When The Dead Won't Rest. . .Call The Best!

We are a non-profit group with a desire to understand the world of the paranormal.  All of our services are provided free of charge and at no time will our group or its members ask for monetary contribution.  Our number one goal is to help our clients.  We firmly believe that there are things and occurrences that cannot be explained with three-dimensional scientific, earthbound understandings.  We simply ask our clients to be open minded to the explanations we may present. All cases are confidential unless the client agrees to allow us to publish our findings on the NNGH website, magazines, newspaper articles and facebook, etc.  Although we would like to publish certain photographs, EVP's and reports on our website, client confidentiality is a priority.  Our investigations are based on scientific, as well as metaphysics and historical data.  We use recorders, digital cameras, video cameras. K-2 meters, EMF detectors, dowsing rods, psychic abilities, and other various methods during our research.  However, we must have concrete evidence (EVPs, photos, etc.) to declare a location as possibly haunted or active.  Even though we feel strongly about the use of psychics and psychic tools, evidence must be more than just psychic "feelings" and "personal experiences."

About Us

Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters (NNGH) was formed in 2005, by gathering like minded individuals who wanted to prove the existence of the paranormal.

Our Mission

We provide excellence in paranormal research and investigation to both our clients and our team members. We strive to achieve and maintain a highly respected paranormal research group, educating those on this side of the veil about those on the other side of the veil.

Our Vision

We are here to help individuals who are experiencing unexplainable events to understand why these events are happening through interviews, investigations, and education.  We will do our best to come to a resolution, through verification, and or to resolve events so that all can live in peace.
We seek to understand paranormal events through investigations using all tools at our disposal with a scientific approach.
We will help an entity, if it is an intelligent haunting, resolve any issues so they are able to move on. We investigate using historical data as our primary source.

Our Approach

Evidence strongly suggest paranormal activity exist in our world.  Therefore, we make an effort to prove the existence of paranormal activity by proving if they do or do not exist.  We will approach the investigation first to explain that the paranormal activity is being caused by explainable events.  If the activity is not caused by natural occurrences, then we will further the investigation to try and communicate with the spirit if possible. NNGH will not provoke, we treat spirits as respectful as we treat humans.  After all you would not want us yelling at your grandparents or using foul language when they are alive. therefore we will not use abusive language when they have passed.   We gather data,  using our historian, to tell us about the property and it owners.  We will maintain a healthy skepticism, as well as being open minded.  We seek to verify and explain our clients experiences.

Our Team

Our team is directed by the founders, with each team member playing a significant role.
Our team members respect the confidentiality of clients and will "never" give out information without the written permission of the client and will be done as a team(never an individual member) with the final release being approved by the founders. All team members maintain a fun and positive attitude, while displaying professional behavior at all times.
Professional and courteous behavior is also extended to any entities we encounter. Please remain respectful of both the living and the dead. All team members will supply an ID badge on all investigations. We have, on our team, a docent from the Nevada Historical Society, whose is instrumental in gathering the HISTORICAL information needed for our investigations. Team members maintain a dedicated and open-minded attitude toward the discovery of truth regarding paranormal events.

Types of Paranormal Events we Investigate

Ghost, spirits, haunting, historical places, monuments and explainable events.
Geographical Areas we Cover
Northern and Central Nevada and California.  However, we are not limited to these areas.

Our Process

When an individual contacts us for help, we conduct an initial telephone interview about the event(s). After determining that further investigation is warranted, we will then conduct an onsite investigation to learn more and find answers. Next, we examine our data, do further research if necessary, and then meet with or call the client to discuss our findings. We will provide the client with a CD of relevant evidence upon request. We understand that contacting a group such as us can be a big step for many people, therefore, we respect their privacy and maintain confidentiality unless permitted otherwise. It is important to reiterate that through the whole process, we not only help the client to understand what is happening, but also help them to feel comforted and understood. “Fixing” the client is as important or more important than investigating the phenomenon.

Our Tools

We use many different tools to find answers, such as infrared cameras, EMF meters; digital recorders; digital cameras; digital thermometers; etc. We also use subjective tools such as intuitive and psychic feedback, dowsing rods, séances, historical data,  etc. Being open-minded, we do not necessarily rule out any particular tool that may be of value. Reputation & Credibility
Our greatest asset is our reputation and credibility as professional researchers and investigators. Therefore, we always strive to maintain and uphold our good reputation in everything we do. All team members must represent the team in a professional manner.
In the paranormal field, any photographic, video, audio, or psychic , and historical evidence stands solely on the credibility of the people who gathered that evidence. Therefore, NNGH strives for outstanding credibility and we will only release paranormal evidence that has been thoroughly examined to eliminate natural occurrences.

Clients Property

NNGH respects the clients personal property.
Many of the places we investigate are a huge part of history.  Respect of old buildings, property, and artifacts are of utmost importance to NNGH.  Helping to preserve and maintain history so that our children and future generations can enjoy it too. We will ensure that we will do our best to leave in property in the same condition as we found it.  Any mess that NNGH creates will be clean-up and any garbage will be disposed of in proper receptacles or off site if the client wishes. Again, our reputation is our most valued asset, and we will doing everything to maintain this asset.

Client Contact, Interviews, Confidentiality, and Release Forms

All Cases are presented to the founders, the team member who set up the case, will present the potential case to the founder.  Either the team member or the founder will continue with setting up the interview, and scheduling the investigation.
Historical Research will be done for the property. Interviews of different witnesses/parties will be conducted individually first, and then together if necessary.
All clients must consent to an initial Pre-Interview for an investigation to proceed, followed by detailed interview(s) onsite.
All clients will be given a copy of this document and must sign a Property Access and Liability Release as well as an Information and Evidence Release for an investigation to proceed.
All client information is to be deemed confidential and private unless released by the client. Members must not divulge confidential client information to the public (including friends and family), such as client names, addresses, neighborhoods, etc., without client’s consent.

Cases We Accept

NNGH will only accept cases that meet the following conditions:
Our services must be needed and we must believe that we can help in some way.  Even if it is just verification and validation.
Investigations for clients who are just curious will be at the discretion of the Team Director.

Investigations

Help the client. We want to discover how the alleged paranormal events are impacting the witnesses, and to discover how the effects can be resolved. In other words, we want to discover the relationship between the events and the people who experience them. This information will help us help them as well as draw out the underlying truth of the event.
Help the spirit(s) (if possible). Part of our job is to help spirits as well to crossover, or resolve unfinished business, or even lose their fear of moving on. Find answers. To discover, document, and prove/disprove/explain the paranormal event, thus gain insight into the unexplained. To the extent possible, any historical case research will be performed.
No members are allowed to investigate an event under NNGH without the knowledge and permission of the Founders. No alcohol or drugs are allowed on investigations. This includes any heavy medication that might influence a member’s judgment. Non-members may participate in an investigation (at the discretion of the Team Director) provided they are accompanied by at least one active member.   Non-members must follow NNGH guidelines, and must sign a waiver. We strive to provide our client with the best evidence and validation that we can and by everybody following NNGH rules of investigation we are able to provide this type of service.

Evidence & Case Reports

All evidence must be reviewed within seven (14) days after the investigation. Once the evidence has been reviewed, the team will evaluate its relevance and a case report will be executed.  Since most of members have full-time jobs, we will do our best to review the evidence with the client within two (2) weeks from the investigation.

Client Charges and Fees

We do not charge for our services, nor do we ask for money for conducting an investigation. If a client brings up the subject of money or donations, please refer him/her to the Team Founders. Clients are in no way expected to pay, but may donate if they wish. All donations are made out to  the Northern Nevada Ghost Hunters and channeled through the case manager or founder. All donations (including actual equipment donations) become the property of NNGH.. Attitude Toward Other Paranormal Groups NNGH is extremely open to working with other paranormal groups as well as sharing and exchanging findings and information. We accept and respect the different approaches and methods that other groups may use. We understand that no one has all the answers and only by working together will we be successful.

Continuing Education and Meetings

Our members attend occasional meetings and conferences to keep updated on the newest equipment, techniques, and how to apply our skills.  Through continuous education on the paranormal this is enables us to give our clients the best possible results. General team meeting agenda includes discussion of previous/pending investigations, training on equipment and/or investigative techniques, socializing with like-minded individuals, and having fun. Members are strongly encouraged to begin or continue a program of self-education regarding the types of paranormal events we investigate.

General Membership Requirements

All members are at least 21 years old, unless we feel they can become a member or our Junior Investigating Team.  All juniors are accompanied by an adult, for they are here to learn.  Junior members are only allowed on an investigation with the consent of the client.  NNGH will also make a determination if it is safe for junior members to attend an investigation. We choose our members carefully, all potential members are interviewed and are encouraged to attend our monthly meetings to give them the opportunity to check out the team, as well as, the team to determine if they are the right fit for NNGH. All potential members must be serious about paranormal investigations, are dependable, and contribute to the growth and development of our team.

Presentations

Our historian did a lecture on "Ghost of Buildings Past to the group, Spiritualist High Desert Church of Reno and NNGH members.

We are currently working on 3 projects in October:
"Ghost Hunting 101", to be done at the Gold Hill Hotel.
Historian will be presenting a lecture on the history of Gold Hill along with facts vs. fiction.

Nevada Historical Society Lecture, our subject will be Ghost Hunting 101 and the value of historical facts.

Community Out Reach

Recently NNGH has taking a vow not only to do investigations, but to help the community as well.  Our monthly meetings include a segment on how can NNGH help out certain groups, who are truly in need and want our help.  Some of the topics and projects we participate in are restoration and clean-up of historical buildings, cemetery clean-ups, donation to historical sites.

Private Residence

Helping a private residence,  in Virginia City, Nevada, restore their home.  Periodically different members go out and help scrape paint, clean the yard and other chores they may need help.

Student Mentoring

Recently NNGH had the pleasure of mentoring a student.  She came to us for help in completing her senior paper.  NNGH, took her on investigations, and presented her with the skills in becoming a paranormal investigator.  We are happy to announce she received an A on her report. We aided in the success,  of two students from the University of Nevada, of their mid-term paper on ghost hunting.

Huffaker Cemetery

NNGH is collaborating with an individual who has made it his mission to keep this cemetery, which has been almost abandon, clean and presentable.  NNGH will help in the history as well as aiding in the clean up.  Our goal is to account for all the individuals whom are buried in this cemetery as well as making it presentable to the public.

Cases we Investigated:

Lake Tahoe, Business

This is a confidential investigation in Lake Tahoe.  We were called on to verify if there is a spirit on the premises.  We did obtain and EVP, when we ask the spirit what is his name and he replied "Robert".  We also asked why is he still here and received a response of "I don't know".  In all we did prove that a spirit does exists on the property and efforts to help the spirit move on where conducted through another group who is experienced in this field.

Genoa Courthouse Museum

Genoa Courthouse investigation was initiated to help promote the Courthouse to hopefully gain attendance.  The Genoa Courthouse proved to be fruitful.  Throughout the night we obtained EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomena's), which concluded that it was an intelligent haunting.  Our sensitive's, were able to pick up on a spirit who was hanging around, and may have been falsely accused of a crime he did not commit.  He was a friendly sprit and obviously did not mind our presence in the building.  One of the EVP's we got stated "Thanks for coming".  This investigation we included our junior members which allowed them to gain experience in conducting an investigation as well as on how to conduct themselves in a respectful manner.  In all we concluded that this investigation was a success.
